Installing the Tesi Switch is simple. Your package will include basic instructions, and listed below are various wiring diagrams that will help you along your journey.
If you're drilling a hole please note that the size listed for the switch IS the actual mounting hole size.
Here are a few tips:
Drilling in wood: *If you are not confident in your skills, please have a professional install your switch. You can refer to our list of installation partners below, or a tech that you trust.
-Use masking or painters tape to cover the finish of your guitar to prevent chipping around the hole.
-Mark the hole using the properly sized hole template so you know how big to make it
-Use a Forstner Bit to make the hole, using a high-speed drill. A cordless drill will work fine. When drilling, move through the finish and wood very slowly. This is the best way to make a clean hole.
-It's always best to make a hole slightly smaller than necessary and then use a reamer to finish the job, tiny bit by tiny bit.
-Remember that once you drill the hole too big, there's no going back to just the right size.
Drilling in a pickguard:
-Taping the pickguard will be helpful for marking where the hole will go, but will not have any affect on the plastic as it shouldn't crack or peel when drilled.
-Forstner bits are still the best, but any drill bit that is easy to control will do. If you are using a standard drill bit, use an awl or something sharp to center the bit on the pickguard.
-Move slowly to make sure the hole is clean.
